Cardiology

Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in Vietnam and worldwide, and the number of new cases in Vietnam is on the rise. Contributing factors, such as less active, more sedentary leisure time and less healthy dietary choices, if unchecked, lead to hypertension and heart attacks. Aiming to allow patients with congenital or chronic cardiac diseases to live a normal life, CMI established a state-of-the-art Cardiology Department.

Through our historic collaboration with the Heart Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, CMI’s Cardiology Department is specialized in providing a comprehensive approach to advanced cardiac diagnosis, ranging from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The mission of our cardiologists’ team is to provide comprehensive and high-quality care, through our training and association with Pr. Alain Carpentier.

Professor Alain Carpentier is, perhaps, the world’s most renowned cardiologist, whom the President of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) calls the father of modern mitral valve repair. He is a member of the French Academy of Sciences and sits on the board of directors of the World Heart Foundation. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Cino Del Duca World Prize in 1996, and the Lasker Prize in 2007. In 2005 the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) bestowed its Medallion for Scientific Achievement for only the fifth time in its history.

Cardiologists at CMI work in close collaboration with the Heart Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, which provides the following services:

  • Interventional cardiology
  • Cardiovascular surgery
  • Coronarography
  • Echocardiography
  • Electrocardiography
